Amit Shah to conduct twin rallies in Bengal on 12 February

• Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend two rallies in two districts of West Bengal on February 12

• The first of these two rallies will be held at Suri in Birbhum district. and the other will be at Arambagh.

• State BJP sources said the Union Home Minister will arrive in Kolkata on the night of February 11

In view of the polls for the three-tier panchayat system in West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend two rallies in two districts of West Bengal on February 12. The first of these two rallies will be held at Suri in Birbhum district. and the other will be at Arambagh.

State BJP sources said the Union Home Minister will arrive in Kolkata on the night of February 11.

“He will be staying in a hotel in Calcutta that night. He will attend a meeting with state BJP leaders in Kolkata for the first time on the morning of February 12. From there, he will first go to Suri in Birbhum district and attend the first rally there at around 11.30 am, then he will attend the second rally at Arambagh in Hooghly district at around 2.30 pm. He will fly back to Delhi only that evening,” said a BJP state committee member in West Bengal.

Commenting on the reason for the selection, Suri said the Trinamul Congress organizational structure in Birbhum district had suffered a setback after the party's district president there was jailed for his alleged links to a multi-crore cattle smuggling scam. "The infighting within the ruling party is at its maximum in Birbhum at present," said a state committee member.
